Jason Bateman's character on "Little House on the Prairie" lived through a bear trap, a gunshot, and more.

People know Jason Bateman for his work on TV and in movies. The actor's roles in Ozark, Arrested Development, Zootopia, and Juno have been praised by critics and audiences alike. But many of his fans might not know about the roles he played as a kid.

At the beginning of the 1980s, Jason Bateman was in the classic TV show Little House on the Prairie. And his character went through a ridiculous number of sad things. Bateman has been doing theater for almost all of his life. He has been in hit movies like "Forgetting Sarah Marshall," "Horrible Bosses," "The Family Fang," and "Game Night."

The actor has also been nominated for a SAG Award and a Golden Globe for his work on Arrested Development. For Ozark, he won a SAG Award and an Emmy. Bateman was born in Rye, New York. He and his family then moved to Salt Lake City before settling down in California. He started acting when he was 10 years old.

His first job was in a commercial for Golden Grahams cereal. His big break came when he was cast as James Cooper Ingalls on the hit show Little House on the Prairie. Jason Bateman's "Little House on the Prairie" character went through a lot, from bear traps to bank robberies.

Jason Bateman played a 12-year-old boy whose parents died in a wagon accident on the show Little House on the Prairie. James and Cassandra, his younger sister, stay with the Ingalls family while they look for a permanent place to live. But Caroline and Charles Ingalls take the two children in the end. Bateman went on to show up in 21 more episodes. During his time on the show, the actor's character went through a lot of bad things.

The boy's parents died, and he was sad about that. He also got caught in a bear trap, got shot during a bank robbery, and fell into a coma. But he made it through it all. Jason Bateman talks about the show "Little House on the Prairie" and Michael Landon. Jason Bateman has only good things to say about the cast and crew when he talks about his time on the show.

In a 2017 interview with Variety, the actor said of the Little House on the Prairie set, "Everyone worked like a family." "It was a warm place, and in the years that followed, I remember... I would end up with sets that didn't do as much." Bateman also talked about how much he liked the show's main character, Michael Landon. The actor became famous with Bonanza and Little House on the Prairie, where he played Charles Ingalls.

The star of Juno said that Landon had a "huge influence" on him as "an executive producer, as a writer and actor, and as something of a father figure" during Bateman's time on the show.

Bateman also said that Landon was "the George Clooney of that time" and that "the crew loved him, the industry loved him, guys wanted to be him, and women wanted to be with him."

Even though Little House on the Prairie and a supporting role in Silver Spoons made Jason Bateman a household name at a young age, the actor said he still had to work hard to get more roles.

He said he was "always" looking for work and that his career had been "a pressure cooker." But it's clear that all of Bateman's hard work as a child actor paid off.
