Neil Gaiman Talks About Casting Delirium in Season 2 of "The Sandman"

Neil Gaiman loves to talk to people who like his work, so it's been fun to see him do that more and more as the first season of The Sandman on Netflix has gone on.

Now that the show has been picked up for a second season, fans want to know what will happen to the characters from the graphic novel that haven't been seen on screen yet.

Delirium is one of these people. Gaiman, who is very popular on Tumblr, was asked to write a story "Have the roles for the new season of Sandman been cast yet? (I'm just wondering, I'm not trying to be Mason) "which is a nod to Mason Alexander Park, who famously threw himself into the casting pool on social media and got the part of Desire.

Gaiman said this in response: "Not yet. This week was the first time we knew for sure." But that wasn't all. He also told fans a little bit about how casting works and how you can't just try out for a role if you're not an actor.

Which I love to see as someone who majored in performance theater and studied acting for years. Not because fans can't imagine themselves in their favorite stories, but because it takes a lot more than putting on a costume and pretending to know how the character works to become that character.

Gaiman said that he was looking forward to casting Delirium after he looked into the casting process. Which, given how well the first season of The Sandman was cast, makes me wonder how great Season 2 will be with the characters we haven't met yet.

Gaiman did go on to say that saying "I like this character" is not a good way to get cast. The author wrote: While we wait to hear who will play Delirium and what else is going on with Season 2, you can watch the trailer for Season 1 below.
