Obeta John, a 27-year-old man who is thought to be an internet fraudster and is also known as a "Yahoo boy," is said to have killed his girlfriend, Idowu Buhari, because she wouldn't give him the money that a victim of his fraud had paid into her account.
The suspect is said to have killed the victim, who was an HND 1 student in Mass Communication at Gateway Polytechnic Saapade, Ogun State.

Abimbola Oyeyemi, a spokesman for the Ogun State police, said that the suspect was caught on Tuesday after an emergency call was made to the Ode-Remo divisional headquarters.
The police were told that the suspect, who lives at 3, Mojubade Compound, Eredu Ishara, locked his door and started beating the girl, hitting her head against the wall.
Neighbors tried to get him to open the door, but they were not successful, DAILY POST learned.
Oyeyemi said that CSP Fasogbon Olayemi, the DPO of the Ode-Remo division, quickly led his officers to the scene. "They found the victim in a pool of blood after forcing the door open," he said.
The police took the woman to the State Hospital in Ishara, where the doctor on duty said she was dead.

"When questioned by the police, the suspect said that he was an internet fraudster and that one of his clients had sent money to the account of his dead girlfriend, which she had refused to give to him," Oyeyemi said.
He said that the suspect told him that the fight over the money was what killed the girl in the end.
Lanre Bankole, the State Commissioner of Police in Ogun, has ordered that the suspect be sent to the State CIID so that the homicide team can do more research and bring charges.
