Shotgun Mary (Toya Turner), who didn't show up in season 2 of Warrior Nun, now has an explanation from the show's creator, Simon David Barry. Mary was an important part of the first season of Warrior Nun. She helped bring the new Halo Bearer, Ava Silva (Alba Baptista), into the Order of the Cruciform Sword.
She also looked into the death of Sister Shannon (Melina Matthews), Ava's predecessor, and found a conspiracy at the heart of the OCS. In season 2 of Warrior Nun, Shotgun People think Mary is dead, but the exact phrase is "Mary's gone."
In the last moments of Warrior Nun season 1, Mary, Ava, Sister Beatrice (Kristina Tonteri-Young), Sister Lilith (Lorena Andrea), and Sister Camila (Olivia Delcán) faced off against Adriel (William Miller). Adriel had been locked up in a prison under the Vatican, but Ava was tricked into letting him out, and Mary led the charge to catch the bad angel.
In the first episode of season 2, Lilith used her new powers to teleport the OCS out of the Vatican, but Adriel's followers attacked Mary. Shotgun In season 2 of Warrior Nun, Mary's absence was definitely felt as Ava led her Sister Warriors to defeat Adriel and save the world..
In an exclusive interview with Screen Rant, Simon Davis Barry, who is in charge of Warrior Nun, talked about Shotgun Mary and Toya Turner not being in season 2. Barry explains what happened and how the fact that Turner wasn't in season 2 of Warrior Nun meant that the story had to be changed in a big way.
I want to ask you about the second season of Shotgun Mary. Why did they decide to do that? Simon Davis Barry: So, Mary was supposed to be in season 2. And, unfortunately, Toya Turner had to leave the show at the start of season 2 for personal reasons. We had to change the show very quickly to make room for that.
We didn't want to recast her because I think the character is too well-known, so we had to find a way to connect what happened at the end of season 1 to what happened in season 2 that didn't feel too forced or too slapped on.
At the same time, we had to face the fact that Toya just wasn't available to film. So, it was a very hard puzzle to solve. But we figured it out in a way that I think honors Shotgun Mary's character and also sets up the new characters who will show up in season 2. I hope it all works out well.
It's always weird when something doesn't go as planned, right? We didn't plan for this to happen, so we had to make changes on the fly. How Shotgun Mary Could Come Back in Season 3 of Warrior Nun Shotgun Mary not being in Warrior Nun season 2 was very disappointing, especially since she was so important to season 1.
Toya Turner made Mary a fan favorite character who often gave the Sister Warriors a voice of reason. But it's possible that the news about Shotgun Mary's death is way off. After all, Warrior Nun never showed Mary's dead body, and what happened to her was only heard from characters like Father Vincent (Tristán Ulloa), who was still working for Adriel at the time.
Mary might still be alive, and at the end of Warrior Nun season 1, she might have been taken to Adriel's realm. In Warrior Nun season 3, there are other ways to get Toya Turner back as Shotgun Mary. In season 1 of Warrior Nun, Mary made Lilith see sense and helped her after she changed.
She could do the same for Lilith in season 3. Mary is also the best person to figure out if Father Vincent deserves forgiveness for betraying the OCS for Adriel. The renewal of Warrior Nun is up to Netflix right now, but if Warrior Nun season 3 happens, we hope that Toya Turner's personal problems will be solved so that Shotgun Mary can come back.
