Miss Beadle, played by Charlotte Stewart, served as Walnut Grove's schoolteacher for the first four seasons of Little House on the Prairie.

Stewart is most known for her portrayal of Mary X in David Lynch's 1977 film Eraserhead, which also featured her as Miss Beadle. On the 1990–1991 television program Twin Peaks, she collaborated with Lynch once more. Over 25 years after the original run, Twin Peaks was brought back for a third season in 2017, and Stewart reprised her role as Betty Briggs.

Her most recent appearance was in the 2018 film Livin' on a Prairie, which centers around a Little House on the Prairie devotee. Playing a bartender was Stewart.

She has three previous marriages.

Tim Considine, with whom Stewart co-starred on My Three Sons in the 1960s, was her first spouse. David Banks, whom she remarried to in 1992, predeceased her in 2012. They remained married until his death. Following a chance encounter, Stewart married Michael Santos in 2015.

She said to Smashing Interviews in 2016: "I ran across an old friend two years ago Christmas Eve." "For thirty years, we had not seen one another. When we connected, that was it. On August 30 of last year, we got married. I've never been busier as I am right now as I begin a brand-new stage of my life. 

Things are better than they've ever been!" Added she, "My sister, brother, countless nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews, and lovely friends make up my wonderful family here. I have a happy existence."

Her memoir was written.

Little House in the Hollywood Hills, Stewart's autobiography, was released in 2016. According to an interview with Fox News, the book details her sober struggle as well as tales of her friendship with Doors frontman Jim Morrison. She attributed Alison Arngrim, who played Nellie Oleson in the television series Little House, with inspiring her to create the book in the interview.

She goes to fan events.

Stewart participates in fan events for both Little House on the Prairie and Twin Peaks because they both have passionate followings. She also creates Cameo videos for her followers. There were at least a thousand people cheering as I walked down the aisle in a large outdoor park when I started crying.
