The summer 2022 premiere of Netflix's adaptation of Neil Gaiman's seminal comic The Sandman was a tremendous success.
Based on multiple comic volumes, the show will return for additional episodes chronicling the trials and tribulations of Dream (Tom Sturridge) throughout his vast existence ruling over the realm we all enter during slumber.
The second season of a television series began production in June 2023. However, due to the ongoing WGA writer's strike and the SAG-AFTRA strike throughout Hollywood, production has been halted.
Before production ceased, we caught our first glimpse of new and returning cast members, providing insight into the new season's narratives.

Sturridge was observed on set filming new episodes before the WGA writer's strike and the more recent actor's strike shut down the show's production.
The images provided by Mail Online depict Sturridge filming what appears to be the comics' "The Song of Orpheus" Take a look:In addition, a more recent capture depicts him filming a funeral scene with Kirby Howell-Baptiste (Death).Death of Kirby Howell-Baptiste
Kirby Howell-Baptiste made only one appearance in season one of The Sandman. Nonetheless, in only half an episode, she made quite an impression.
In "The Sound of Her Wings," Death met her brother Dream and compelled him to accompany her on her obligations of escorting souls to the afterlife. It was heartfelt and incredibly moving, making it one of the series' highlights. And later in the episode, she granted Hob Gadling (Ferdinand Kingsley) perpetual life so that Dream could observe his progress through the ages.
Considering the comics, it is reasonable to assume that her function will become more significant.
In fact, Kirby Howell-Baptiste is one of the few actors we've spotted on the set of the new season filming, looking as suave as ever:
