I came across "Outlander" over five years ago. In 2018, during my second year of college, I sought a little bit of escapism as the exam season came to a close.
My mom kindly brought up the show to me earlier, thinking I might find it enjoyable due to my longstanding interest in history. It primarily takes place in Scotland, making it a captivating historical series. I had a trip planned to Scotland that summer as well.
However, little did I know that my life was about to take a turn when I pressed play on the first episode of the Sam Heughan and Caitríona Balfe series one Sunday evening after a tiring day of studying. I stayed up watching it until 4:30 a.m. and managed to take my final exam on just a couple of hours of sleep (fortunately, I passed it).
By Wednesday of that week, I had watched every episode. On that very day, I began delving into the book series by Diana Gabaldon, which served as the inspiration for the show.
I am even more excited about my vacation to Scotland. With my mom's assistance, we carefully organized the trip.
Recognizing my immense delight in the show, she took the initiative to reach out to a Facebook group, kindly inquiring about any available "Outlander" tours. Fortunately, there was one available with spaces on the one day of my trip when I had an afternoon free.
A 4-day trip to Scotland had a profound impact on the course of my life
During my first visit to Scotland at the age of 20, I developed a deep affection for the country's charming streets, warm-hearted people, and inviting pubs right away.
During my "Outlander" tour, I was filled with anticipation for what the day would bring. Little did I know that within a few hours, it would completely transform my life.
I recall strolling along the picturesque path leading to Midhope Castle, a magnificent 15th-century tower that serves as the backdrop for Jamie Fraser's ancestral residence in the TV series. I was filled with a rush of emotions at that moment.
