Little House on the Prairie, a beloved television show from the 1970s, will be brought to life in Corsicana with a series of special events and appearances by the original cast members on December 2nd and 3rd.
A Prairie Little Christmas, hosted at Corsicana's Pioneer Village and the Corsicana Opry, offers a delightful journey back in time. This enchanting event is inspired by the beloved American children's novels penned by Laura Ingalls Wilder. It beautifully captures her experiences and adventures during her childhood and adolescence in the American Midwest from 1870 to 1894. The weekend of events is supported by the city of Corsicana, Corsicana Parks & Recreation Department, and Collin Street Bakery.
The series, which was once highly regarded as the top show on television, had a successful nine-year run in the 1970s on NBC. It later gained popularity again in the 1990s through reruns on the Hallmark Channel. Little House on the Prairie offered a diverse range of elements.
It showcased meaningful family dynamics, provided insights on navigating the challenges of westward migration, emphasised the importance of strong family principles, featured stunning natural landscapes, showcased historically accurate attire, and introduced the talented Michael Landon, who not only portrayed the character of Charles Ingalls but also directed the series.
Throughout its duration, the show managed to draw the attention of esteemed actors and actresses, such as Earnest Borgnine, Red Buttons, Burl Ives, Patricia Neal, Eileen Heckart, and Louis Gossett Jr., who were eager to make appearances.
Visitors to Pioneer Village on December 2 and 3 will have the delightful opportunity to meet and greet a dozen cast members. These talented individuals will be available for personal photos, autographing official show photos, and offering books and merchandise for sale.
